This little guy is quite spectacular and you were able to take a capture with his wings full out so we enjoy natures artwork on them. Very clear details. Natural colour : good framing background. Informative notes. Well done and a pleasure to view.

A sharply captured creature with delicate wing detailed design...
Ghostly backdrop adds a haunting effect...
I'd consider cropping some portions of the upper & left marginal negative spaces for a closer look.....but that's your discretion to present it this way.
Subdued illumination.
Subdued colors.....
Nice perspective & narrow DOF.
Thanks for sharing...

Mary,
A beautiful picture of what I think could be a Citrus Swallow Tail Butterfly wings outspread with the sunIight glowing through it's wings from behind. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

Thanks again Susan :)

That background pattern and the way it looks perfectly matches the butterfly: the high contrast of the butterfly's colors is gently subdued by the background's high contrast, so that here we have a very well balanced composition that shows sunlight, warmth, and the beautiful details of nature.

A beautiful butterfly that is quite different from the black swallowtails we have here in Michigan. A very nice setting that really makes the butterfly stand out beautifully.

Mary...Wonderful capture of this open winged Swallowtail Butterfly in flight. Lovely soft bokeh background where this Butterfly stands out.
(I am more in favour of trimming out 'space' to focus on the subject, that is just me). Great lighting and DOF, lovely details displayed. Well done!

Yes, a pretty dainty looking photo all-round posted here! Your fine and traditional composition grants us an enjoyable view of your lovely butterfly and its branch location. Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely taken!

Such a pretty butterfly with the black , white and silvery grey with the blue and brown at the bottom. It is well positioned in the scene , well focused, clear to view, exposure is correct, colors and tones are natural. I like the soft green tones in the background and I like the plant to the right in front of it. Well composed and presented!
