Ok. This is the number 1 drawing / cover illustration. I think it gives a good idea of what is to be found inside the font cover.

The line drawings are effective especially for children. Seeing basic shapes and forms as apposed to the highly finished looking images of today can teach children that even simple lines can create an image for the mind and imagination to explore.

"Tales of a Journey" may be an idea for a title.

Great work for a great project Brenda ~ Steve

That is an excellent suggested title Steve. You also have understood my basic principal of a simple art form. So many good critiques have been made I am copying all down. Already I made as you have seen a coloured version so hopefully I can run the two options side by side. If I get that far lol.

Poohpourri? Potpourri - a collection of miscellaneous literary extracts. You don't see much of Winni the Pooh much anymore. At least not where I live. However, I think you are on to something here. Perhaps you can revive Winni. I like the way you took the characters from the book an mixed them together. This is very original. I can't draw at all, but this is very appealing to me. I am a retired elementary school teacher and taught reading for years. This is right up my ally. I really like your concept. I hope it all works out for you. How do I find your Etsy account?

Thank you for,a cmgreat critique that shows many pointers to me of what might work. This is my primitive version which I preferred at the initial concept but other reviews have also lijed the more sophisticated coloured version so all in a very useful feedback and a possibility to run 2 options. Your experience as a teacher relates well to knowng what goes and especially what kids can handle. .. my Etsy shop is in the process of being updated so it's not at its best .. I have to load up a lot of new stuff in the next month's but its still in working order. Etsy.com/BrendaArtwork18/shop

Thank you! Did you like the name of the series I suggested? I'm biased, but I thought it was kind of cute.

Susan thank you, this was my first mock up and I liked it but seeking hard critique as been an interesting and useful exercise resulting in me thinking about themes for the series. I.e. the original impression as this is and an updated more colourful option. This attracted 1* first review but since it has raised its stakes and such as your review has inspired me to continue. It's very early stages for this idea but I am full on addicted to it. Lol. Your valued input so appreciated.

the sketches are pretty good you have to watch out for copyright infringement personally if it is public domain i think it is you should be ok

Thank you. This sketch rough as it is, has had remarks that collectors might be interested as it resembles very much the early editions in style. So I might keep it as an option if it ever goes to market. I am aware not to infringe but would feel happier if I knew the date of release of books to the Public Domain.

This is not worth the lowest star rating...
I've read your explanation and I got your points!

It's for me an artistic freedom to present it this way...
The painting is cute!
Yes, it looks as two different because it is!
I like the carefree strokes...

You're so down to earth as an artist!

When I was a newbie here I also experienced once or twice given a one star rating but that artist must appreciate my recent shots as I've learn a lot from my mentors who are not here anymore!

Thank you so much. You along with Alaskapat have restored my enthusiasm to continue. This project is in mockup style at the moment so not perfected and i have other presentation ideas particularly for this one. I did take note from that 1* that there is probably a large audience that will not be enticed with this. I have made a coloured version and hope to post it today. You are right when you say we are on a learning curve and can only improve with the help of many on this site. I take photos for reference for my art. I don't copy exact but may use some item in a composition. Some of my photos I like in an artistic way so have posted them. The strong critique I have had has taught me so much in tips and faults that now I think my photo skills have improved and that helps my observation skill in my art. Thank you once again for your understanding review and those stars.

I can relate with you as I was once a victim of bullying on this site but I strike back until they surrender...

Look, where they are now? Gone with the wind! HahahM

Well that's good to know. My old motto is I never give up! Sometimes to my disadvantage but more for my satisfaction. Thanks for your comments they boosted me no end.

I like the way you created this first cover with the scene in Winnie the Pooh's house, Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore on the outside looking at the book cover in the black and white, this makes me want to go through my kids old books to see how many Winnie The Pooh books are there. I think that this would appeal to children familiar with the stories and collectors. You show the characters well.

Thank you do much Pat for your in depth review i found it helpful and a critique to take note of. This is just a mock up to see if it's a possibility. I have tried different colours and borders and have one totally coloured in which I might post. So buys would have a choice. My first rating on this gave me a 1* and I was so disheartened. She didn't seem to understand the concept I was trying to achieve and rubbished it. Thanks again. I wanted to nominate you for Reviewer of the month but it seems i have used all which is not usual for me.

I don't think this is good enough to sell. Looks like a sketch but a really rough sketch with colors. The proportions on the animals don't look right, the picture next to the pencil sketch doesn't line up well together. It honestly just looks like there are two different pictures next to each other. What I mean by that is they don't have a connection or anything

Very good points raised here and I am very grateful as it makes me look at what people will find appealing. ... I am not defending my work only wish to explain my reasoning in this design. The poster is a preview of the rest of story posters to come. I tried to incorporate the 1926 book cover which that angled square is. The original has very chidchildish titled writing and the copy I did is faithfully to the first edition along with hints of aging. The larger characters are part of the Pooh revival I am trying to create and the idea is they have found this book. So they are a sort of seperate entity to the book but pointtaken they do not seem connected. True...However in the original picture i used as a reference here there are hands around the book as if someone is showing them it. I didnt want to make mine the same in case I infrindged copyright so may be they are needed. The original artwork illustrations in the first edition are fairly rough sketches thay I was trying to emmulate i didnt want a Disney type characters. But you have been helpful and i will seriously look at this again. Thank you for your indepth review much appreciated.
