Birds and Cortez Tree of Gold in the rain

Such a beautiful composition. It has an enduring appeal. I love those yellow chandeliers of Cortez blooms- they have been gorgeously done. The flying bird with such vibrant colours has been so beautifully crafted with such a lovely wing spread- looks like a kingfisher. The green bird on the tree is also done with a delicate charm. Splendid background and rainy setting of the skies. I rue the fact that I have run short of my six stars- my best wishes for the contest

Thank you so very much for your extremely thoughtful review! The green bird is a Resplendent Quetzal native to the tropics of central America. Unfortunately this work was posted for a contest last year, but not going anywhere this year -- just getting a little "airing" lol....I am glad you enjoyed it!

Daphne, you certainly know your way around the computer with such exquisite artwork.

Your colors are so clean and vibrant.

Your attention to details is just stunning.

This one is a true winner to me... you are amazing!!

Thank you so much for your very kind review! I am glad you liked it. As far as knowing my way around Adobe Illustrator, I never think so because the insist on "improving it" and just frustrate me. They have fabulous colors and textures though...

Your artwork not only is colorful, it sends a message of peace and tranquility. I get the sense of a tropical setting with a vast variety of bird species in a very natural environment. It gives me the urge to head to Central America and see how many new bird species I can photograph. Thanks for the inspiration.

You seem to be maturing with your technical skills with digital art painting, as I have commented on a selection if your work. You are creating more complexities within your work, not as flat as earlier ones. You are creating the 3 spaces if fore front, middle ground and back ground nicely.

Yes, it is really about how my computer and software are behaving, as these that you like are old, and I have left the files a few years to cool off, lol. The more complex the file, the more memory it takes and bugs it gets.... I would do better with a bigger computer or doing hand work, but I went to digital due to injuries to my hands. Thanks for your support!

Very nice Daphne. The one bird looks like a Quetzal. The other I can't remember.

The colors are a wonderful pastel which gives a soothing look and feel. The scene is well balanced with the yellow flowers on the branch and those hanging down.

A great entry for the contest Daphne and I wish you all the best ~ Steve

Yes, the bird on the branch is a quetzal, not copied, but the lower bird is based on one I copied and it only had a Latin genus name, no well known name that I know of. Some endangered species. There are more than one variety of Quetzal, and this is the resplendent Quetzal that is indeed threatened. It lives up in the high altitudes of Guatemala mountains. Amazing that they make nests high up in holes in the trunks of tall trees with that enormous tail in tow! It bends around them though. Scroll down here to bottom of this link:

Don't you hate when that happens? Technology is wonderful when it works right. I like the colors you used in the birds. They are bright and beautiful. The sky doesn't overpower the rest of the work. Instead, it is a nice backdrop that enhances the rest of your work. I like birds, but I really love your horses.

Thank you so much for your kind review! You like my horses? Have I sent you any? Apologies if I have and don't remember. If I haven't, and you would like one, email me at daphneoberon@gmail.com (free of course...)

I have seen many of your horses on here. Are you talking about live horses?

I'm so glad I came across this one again... I saw it earlier but got pulled away from my desktop.

I love the simplicity of the scene (Illustration). The colors are all complimentary of each other - with color you have managed to produce a soft relaxing sky as the background for these birds and butterfly. The image produces a feeling of calmness and relaxation. I find it very aesthetically pleasing.

Thank you so much for your supportive reviews! Welcome to FAR. I just saw your incomparable hummingbird photo! I am dealing with some kind of respiratory flue at present after suffering from fires last year here in Northern California. So I will be taking a break from FAR, but will reply soon to your other reviews. Thank you so very much for your support! Daphne Oberon
