I remember this ghost image of Azulina and her rider Don Diego Montenegro from your book and the ghost lights of Prieto Bartolo and the pirates, searching for the treasure. Just a beautiful monochromatic image, giving Azulina the appearance of being a mystical apparition. A perfect entry for the contest,I wish you all the best!

Thank you so much! I f you feel like it, tell me what you would like to see developed in the second book. In fact, once I get my first chapters back from my editor, would you like to read them and offer a reader's opinion?

You are welcome! I would be very honored to read them and offer an opinion. It would be interesting to see if the earthquake opened up access to another cave filled with the beautiful cherry opals, maybe learn a bit more about what is in Don Diego?s manuscript concerning Azulina. I did read a portion that you had posted, hopefully the Bartolo?s will be thwarted once and for all from trying to get Don Tomas?s land from Donanoto!

Wow for a black and illustration the mare really stands out! Excellent detailing of the subject and everything is well proportioned. The trees or plants in the foreground really help make the photo appear mystical.

Well done!

Congratulations on your book! This is a wonderful digital piece, the ghost mare is very well shown in the grey scale, I like the silvery tones too, she is very well created , I like her ghostly mane and the rider . I like the way you framed her with the branches and it's a beautiful night sky with a good show of the moonlight. Well created, arranged and presented! Excellent entry for the contest, best wishes to you!

great piece of imaginative work with good use of the digital software.I like the fact that you have retained the composition in black and white as it gives a sense of eeriness that correlates to the title

I really like the monochromatic tone with a touch of silver like grey. The horse indeed appears to be a ghost which is very cool how you managed that.
I hope you do more like this in black and white.
Well done Daphne ,:)

Very nice illustration. It could be a cover for a book. I don't know if the figure is needed in this piece. The horse without the figure adds more mystery for me. Nice use of values.

Thank you so much. Without the figure, the headstall, bit and reins would be gone; you think you would like this better plain without them as well? They help add perspective....

This is a very bright, captivating piece that utilizes the extreme band of black and white will practically every grey shade in between. The bright mane pulls the viewer in to a well illustrated creation. The surrounding foliage creates a nice easy pleasant feeling in this well scaled and detailed piece. Two Thumbs Up on this one.

WOW! This is So well done that I just Have to award this my highest recognition.

The ghost like horst is so well done. The pose and position in the frame commands and dominates the attention of the viewer.

Excellent entry for the contest Daphne. One of your best works ~ Steve

Thank you so much. This image is in My Grandfather's Horses. It is actually my first work ever in Adobe Illustrator CS, 2005. Most of what I am posting now is old work, done when I was less pressured and using the simpler version. Upgrading the program so it can fly beyond the moon has made it much less user friendly. I wish they would go back to CS but without the glitches, lol. The present CC is nothing but high tech glitches, grumble grumble... The program tries to second guess what you want all the time, and with always gets it wrong, freezes my tools, loses tools behind tabs that go dead and on and on... This is partly why I became motivated to post older works, which may well be better. Thanks again Steve!

Due to the monochromatic and the lighting the mare and her rider look otherworldly. The mare seems made from the silver-light of the moon and mightier than any living creature. The visual impact on the viewer is strongly emotional and invites to read the book.
