Great capture. The clarity is great. The angle of the shot of this veteran facing the memorial is great. The capture of the light is great. The image is balance and eye appealing to the viewer. Good eye and great job overall

Steve, this is superb photography both for its technical quality and meaning.
A stunning composition could not be better. Perfect lighting throughout with the brightest appropriately on the seated man. I will check out the video for sure. Be very proud of this one, my friend. Ed,

Beautiful Steve!
This is so worthy of a 6 but sadly I am out :( I have always had a special place in my heart for veterans as they sacrifice so much for us. This photo brings out that sacrifice with the memory of those who have given all. My grandpa served in WW II, he was part of the invasion of Normandy and landed on Omaha beach. I have 3 other brothers who served in the middle East. Thank you for sharing this it means a lot!

Hi Steve,
My son is a retired marine so I understand about the transition from military to civilian life and the difficulties that you face.
This is such a sad scene, all of the names of those who gave their all. We are forever grateful to them and to all who serve . The video is beautiful!
Thank you for your service and may God walk with you always.

I find it quite a poignant story which actually reflects the feelings of the retirees even amngst the civilians! This is a fine shot. The body language of the gent sitting alone on the bench tells it all. Overall a fine presentation.

my husband spent 26 years in the Marines. He was in from the end of Vietnam to the beginning of 911, broken time. He still will jump in his sleep a lot. He only talks about the funny things that happened during his tour, things that soldiers say and do to lighten the moment. My heart goes out to all who have served and are serving. It takes a special kind of person to willingly take on the responsibility of protecting our country in such a way. I am always thankful to all who have given my MY FREEDOM. diane..lynnkah

i designed another card with one of your photos and put what you wrote. it makes a good sympathy card for someone who has lost a loved one. i sent it to your email, and revised your video to add your other photography. check it out when you get a chance and let me know what you think of both.

It is worthy of more than 6 stars. Thank you Steve for your service and for this reflective piece on the quality of life for so many of our veterans. The image is profound. The man 's posture gives this a somber tone. Maybe he saw names of his family of veterans on the wall and memories come flooding back.

Steve.... This image immediately brought back emotional feelings I encountered when I first visited the Vietnam memorial in Washington. I remember walking on the path and suddenly was overwhelmed as the path declined downhill and the placards of thousands of names engulfed me. I think EVERY student in public schools should go to Washington! Or like this - attend a mobile memorial. Truly the event of my visit left a very strong impact on me. My son served 6 years in the Air Force (after 9/11) when the media was big on doing a daily body count. I cried a tear for every fallen soldier for 6-years (praying for my sons safe return).

Well as for the image - I think my into says a lot. The image provokes sadness, appreciation to our military, sympathy for those who lost a love one and to your title... the acknowledgement of comradery.

Thank you so much Kathy for your intimate comments. I don't know which is worse: Being in a combat zone or those back home that worry every day. Glad your son made it home safely.

This scene moved me when I say this guy quietly sitting there in deep remembrance. I was very quiet as I took his picture so as not to disrespect him or interfere with all that was going on inside. Thank you again Kathy for your wonderful review ~ Steve
