This is a beautiful image for the contest with it's lovely green colors throughout,this simple fern fiddlehead starting to open,very well focused with perfect lighting.This looks so elegant and delicate,very artistic. Wish you all the best in the contest!

I love the curl show here; a great capture of naure waking up for spring. Not quite as sharp as I would hope; but he color is great and overall composition is very nice and aristic.

Ahhh this one is much better with the tendril of the fern wonderfully focused. Color is excellent and your choice of background green complementary to the subject. Good luck in contest.

Cool effect with the finely tuned depth of field. Even with the green on green, clear contrast is seen, perfect for the details. The lower leaf looks like a tiny creature. Did you actually get to see it unfold?

Nik,
A beautiful picture of this Fern Fiddle as it slowly unfurls as Spring warms up & the Ferns mature. Beautiful composition framing & lightning that lights up the unfurling Fern against the blurred green background..
Taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

I am glad not to be alone this time to write a honest review, if you don't mind; color ok, but this very close up is not sharp enough; the white areas are blown out; the pic is too bright: I think decreasing the light by 1 to 1 1/2 EV would improve the whites;

I am very grateful for your honest review! No problem!! I took the shot so as to try and make it look "arty".

I think it suits the contest but do feel that it needed to be pin sharp in this so that the out of focus background makes the image more profound in this,those white bits don,t help either...Brian

This is beautiful!
I love ferns and the color green.
Your focus is on point!
The background is supporting, not distracting.
Well done!
