like you I had thought they were only brown! maybe it is a type, or maybe we have not noticed the green sproutings - it is artistically excellent, with the solid centres and then the different types of greens and shapes surrounding.

Very cool. Good eye for spotting this and capturing with your phone. The green pine cones will indeed mature, open and drop their seeds.

This is a nice entry for the contest, I love pine cones and these are in the early stages of life, still green, they are beautiful! You have photographed them well with good focus, this image is clear, exposure is good, the color and tones appear natural. I see good detail in these fresh pine cones. Well composed allowing a good sense of how they grow on the pine branch. Well presented! Best wishes to you in the contest!
