This is very cool! I like your off center composition and the way you painted the spikes (or quills?). The colors are lovely. Very nicely done!

Love him! He is stunning. The details are so clean and crisp. The spines are perfect I have always had a great affection for the little guys and this made me catch my breathe. Great job on the expression. You nailed this one! Well done

    Tootie,
thank you for your time and critique of my painting, yes that is the effect I was after coming out of the depths to see what was going on.
The background is actually a very dark blue, painted on a canvas I painted black first to see how it reflected the light back rather the with a white canvas, I think that enhances the feeling of depth. I am honored by the 6 star rating you gave the painting,

Maybe I should post some more of my painting, what do you think?
Take care and again take you, be safe.
    Cheers,
    Lucien

Intersting artwork. It does look like a cousin of the Corona Virus! Scary! A rare painting from you who is a master of drawings. Good luck in the contest!

Excellent job of capturing this cool looking puffer fish, definitely not something I would want to play catch with! Detailing and realism are superb with a good face on view. Looks like it is coming out of the deep with that great black background. It is indeed very enjoyable image to view, very well done!

This painting is dramatic. This is what a diver or snorkeler see under water and swims away because of the spikes and sharp teeth. Your painting is pretty realistic. I enjoy your attention to exact detail. The creature, suddenly in the spot-light of a diver, emerging from the darkness resembles the maritime wold. The Puffer Fish is perfectly placed into the frame. What the diver sees through his mask is shown within the tight framing. The painting is excellently composed.

An eye catching painting. The composition is great and the colors look very good against that black background. A very dramatic perspective. Best wishes in the contest.
