What a wonderful photo! Both eyes showing in that mass of leaves. Since the fox I have seen move so quickly, you were fortunate that he stood still for a moment. Such good colors, cropping, and overall composition.

I love Foxes, despite living in the Quantock Hills in England, I do not see many at all. How did you get so close? His/her face looks very focussed and is very typical. I love the foliage around and I wonder where it went afterwards....

Ester,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this yearling Fox Cub peeping out from the undergrowth on the far bank of the river Dodder. It's only since I came to live in Rathfarnham (a suburb to the south west of the Dublin) that I have seen so many Urban Foxes, on the streets at night in my garden from time to time ( my house is 50 yards from a River I think they use the river banks as their way of navigating the city as much as possible) This poor fellow is suffering from Mange & has been treated for it by a Wildlife Vet...it's coat should grow back in about three months. I think out in the Quantocks the Foxes have less reason to search for food on the towns & villages s there would be plenty out in the wild countryside. I have as a child been through Somerset on the way to Devon where we lived for a while. Beautiful countryside & Cider if the Quote that says "Somerset were the Cider Apples Grow!" is true

Oh what a charming capture, Susan, and made even more touching after reading your notes. Your perfect focus on those eyes just sells the shot and the plight of this little one. Very well done, my friend. Ed.

Robert,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this yearling Red Fox Cub peering through the undergrowth on the River bank opposite..it was watching my little dog straining on her lead...bit not watching the Fox...she was watching another dog approaching along the path towards her.

Nice little shot of this fox and it looks as if its a bit nervous in this, pity that piece of undergrowth is across its face, but nothing you could do about that, fits the contest well...Brian

Brian,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this yearling Red Fox Cub peering out through the undergrowth on the far bank watching Jesse pulling on her lead...bit not actually looking at the Fox she was more interested in another dog walking towards her on the path.
Thanks too for your good wishes in the contest.

What a lovely image of this Red Fox cub. It has that look of curiosity yet is vary wary as it hides on the foliage.
The focus is sharp and the colors are nicely rendered. The position in the frame with the head taking center stage surrounded by the greenery is very well done.
A great entry for the contest and I wish you all the best Susan ~ Steve

A great photograph of this young fox's face. He looks so serious as he is intent on keeping an eye on you! Your focus and clarity are great showing detail of his hair, and the cute tufts of hair in his ears. Good luck in the contest.
