Love the textures in this especially the straw for the nest. Nice textures in the feathers especially around the egg. The puffed feathers around the eye and beak are very nice too. You called this a Homer, is his a homing pigeon? You have nice detail and a realistic look. I like how the pigeon seems to be eyeing you. Good Luck in the Contest! :o) Helvi

1st off thank you for becoming a fan.
To answer your question, yes, I love drawing, and then working the various media that are associated with drawing, like color pencil, graphite, silver point, pen and ink, both with colored markers and India ink.
I teach a drawing class, titled: drawing with out an eraser, and the also a painting class titled, a painting with the primary colors.

I love this drawing Lucien I read your notes is it colored pencil if it is do you use a solvent to blend colord

no, i start with the lightest color I see, apply a light coat, sparingly and the aply the next color and repeat the process until I get the colors I want. I sometime use blending pencil to soften and work the colors into one another. I have never used solvents to get my color effects and blends.
I hope that answers your question.

I use Oderless mineral spirits to blend my colors I will have to try it your way

What a great drawing this is Lucien I cant really fault it even if I wanted to, all artworks and artists are their to be shot at by viewers simple because we are all different abstracts are probable the worst ones for that but when you come across this type of art and nature study and if it is done to a high standard as this is then the piece speaks for itself, beautifully done with artistic skill, knowing the subject and mediums use to create it all add up to a top notch presentation, love the colours and the detail which is not that easy to produce using coloured pencils because of the type of mediums they are very waxy in most cases, the whites are especially well done and I like the added addition of that egg!
