fabulous looking shot of this coot Fred and they always seem to build their nest right in the centre of the lake or pond as this one shows, you cant really not like this all the detail and the light is first class especially on the coot itself and with the dark greens water and reflections surrounding the main subject it all works perfectly!

A nest in the water is probably much safer than on land. Such nest might even protect from predatory birds do to the reflections in the water. The photo is well focused and exposed and has good depth. I appreciate the realism of color and light and the clarity of detail. The nest is well placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.

that is smart..course that wouldnt work here in Florida..gator would pay her a visit..wink. the clarity is great. the capture of the light is great. the angle of the shot this bird and her island nest is great. the image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall

Fred,
A beautiful picture of this Eurasian Coot ~ Fulica atra sitting on her eggs in her stick nest surrounded by water on which sky above & the trees around the lake reflected on the lake's surface. Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

A common bird , the Coot, seen in the UK yet I have not seen the likes of such a nest built in the middle of the waters.It's as if the nest has come free from the land and is floating down the river and the mother refusing to abandon it ! Nice capture of the subject,with good structure and focus
