I thought it was a carnivorous flower but then I've seen the name: a flower very common in Australia. I like the outstanding sharp details of the stamens;

Such interesting and creatively done photograph of this unique, yet not well known bloom. The composition and details are superb. Background complements the photograph perfectly.

    Thanks so much - have now found that it is Grevillea Moonlight Shrub

This flower looks like an aquatic animal with many tentacles. I too hope it will survive the bush fires. The view from above shows the grow of those "tentacles" nicely. The photo is perfect focused and exposed. I enjoy the sharpness of detail. The unique flower is well placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.

a very unusual and eye catching flower, I like the detail captured by the sharp focus, soft colour stands out against the muted back ground, well framed and presented. lovely image.

A most unusual flower. I love this composition and wish I knew a little more about the flower itself. The details are very well shown and the colors are great.

    Thanks Mike - after a bit of research think this one is Grevillea Moonlight - we have so many different Grevillea species some of which are threatened in their natural environment. Thankfully nurseries are doing their bit to grow them and encourage people to plant in gardens.

Wow Mary, this is such a unique flower, I am intrigued by its shape and structure, you have captured this so very well with good focus, this image is clear, exposure is correct, it's pale yellow to white tones are beautiful and appear natural.
I think it's a wonderful angle of placement in the frame allowing such a good look at its structure. It is standing out so well from the green tones in background .well composed and presented! I hope that the garden survived too.

Hello Zilyram, This is an excellent shot, with good focus and zoom. When you said you did not know the name, it caused me to look up Australian flowers. I think the flower is a Australian Grevillea Robusta Silver Oak. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks James - the Silver Oak is a rich orange/bronze colored flower but after a bit more research think this one is Grevillea Moonlight. There are so many different varieties of Grevillea.

Yes, I can well imagine the devastation they would cause to beautiful flowers like this in your fine and classical composition. Like the delicate look of it. Sharpness and exposure are good. Well taken!
