First of all what is a Muscovy Duck, I find a lot of different kinds of birds and ducks on here and wonder where all of these come from. I love the pose and the way this duck fills up the frame. Also wonder what that red thing is on his beak. I am not a farmer but I like to ask a few questions when I see something that to me sticks out and wonder what it is and what the purpose of it just in case. I also love how his body seems to be well groomed. This is a very interesting duck and a great photo of him. Keep up the great work my friend and have a great day. Jack

Your kind, detailed and thoughtful review is appreciated! This duck originated from South America!!

Interesting shot. I once drew some ducks onto something and had to check how this nose works! Must be sunny above as the shadows are very strong. I have to smile slightly. When the gov brought my mum to work over here, she was sent to the Lancashire cotton mills. Our people had to work where ever they were put. Later she married and they moved to Lincolnshire, they got permission to work at the steelworks. She missed Lancashire and wanted to move back. They call you 'duck' on the bus, she used to confide to me. Here they don't even look at you. Lincolnshire is a farming county and not given to talking to strangers. So here is a Lancashire duck!

Nik,
A beautiful profile portrait of this relatively young Muscovy duck the wattles on it's beak & around it's eyes still quite small. Dry mud seen on it's beak as it enjoys sunbathing after a search in the mud for food. The patterns on it's plumage are unique to itself. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

It is a very beautiful portrait of the Muscovy Duck which aren't particularly beautiful but make for an interesting subject.
The colors are very natural and the lighting good.
Sharp focus.

Hey Nik,

This is a really dramatic photo. The red stands out very well and is contrasted by the white and brown feathers.

The cropping brings out the most colorful parts. The focus is sharp and the colors are well rendered.

Nice work on this one Nik ~ Steve

I can't call him pretty. Part of his face reminds me of a turkey. The shot is wonderful, though. The background makes a nice backdrop. The sun, though shining, doesn't detract from the photo. You must have been very close to the ground to take this photo.

A very good portrait shot of this duck; Focus and clarity are spot on showing every detail of his feathers. Rather ornate bumps above his beak Good job!

Just up the road from me in Southport.I have seen a few of these at the Martin Mere Wetlands which I am looking forward to reopening after the Lockdown.Your image of the Muscavoy duck is sharply focused, good structure to allow the character to come through.

What a great close up!
Such clarity and fine details shown here, right down to the feathers! Great color, natural but still vivid as the red beaks shows. He looks sleepy!! What's with the hump on his beak?? Well done.
