I found this immediately appealing and immensely artistic, Lucien. I admire birds so much and this piece and your notes made me fall in love with these two. Your colored pencil rendering is impeccable and your friend is right - their personalities do shine through - it's in the eyes. Best of luck in the contest too.

I love the lines of this piece, and I love the story behind it. The brown pigeon sorta does fade a little into the white, but I believe that give is more character. Great work, thanks for the share.

It is a very beautiful nature art. The first one could be somewhat more realistic. The black pigeon is fabulous. According to theme it is well painted.

What I especially like about this drawing is the close and personal approach and also the contrast between the grey and the brown pigeon. I also think the eyes are well done and the fine textures you have brought out in the feathers.
This drawing is also about shapes and lines, and it is easy to see that it is done paying very good attention to details.
