Lucien, your artist friend was right. It is the best drawings of pigeons I believe I've ever seen!

Your highlights, shading and overall technical skills is amazing.

If this does not move into a first place win, I cannot imagine what will.

Kudos to you.

    good morning,
sorry for the delay in responding, time got away from me.
Thank you for you spending the time to look and then review my artwork.
I am glad you agree with my friend about the drawing, and then giving it the rating that you have.
It is all very much appreciated, especially for the 6 star rating on the drawing. As always getting the rating is an honor.

    You have nice day.
    Take care.

beautifully drawn with tremendous patience I would imagine- and yes, you can see their characters, not just because of the bold black and grey versus the soft brown.. I couldn't agree more with you about drawing pets and loved ones. Done it myself in the early days when I was young and did not know how one avoids trouble. I see.. but they don't see. So how can I draw what is inside your head. I allow my art to run wild and free, but carefully recognisable.

Lucien,
A beautiful picture of Francis & Clarence the Fantail Pigeons pictured side by side their heads tucked into their breasts, their eyes open watching as you draw each line. Created by your artist's eye for composition, very skilful draftsmanship & your knowledge of Pigeon anatomy & the gifted ability to convey on your canvas what your eyes see in bringing this pair to cooing life! My only thought why did you not include their fan tails?
Susan

    Susan,
    good morning.

To answer your question; the owner wanted a portrait image, so I has to composed it as you see it from several different photographs, seeing how Francis was deceased when she asked me to do the artwork. I had met Francis, in the past on more then one occasion,so I knew him not intimately, but his personality I remembered pretty well, but she supplied the photos I was to work from. Clarence and I have also met several times, however the two birds had never met.

thank you for your nice comments on my artwork, It is appreciated.

Capturing the personality of each bird is always the challenge when doing commission work, so that owner of the bird connects with the artwork. But of course that is the challenge in every piece of art work, that desire by the artist, to have the audience connect with the piece you have created.

    Have great day.
    Cheers.

A very good drawing of these two birds Ned Francis and Clarence. Perfect for the competition coming up for my beauty art. It must have taken some time to get the nice details in the features. Good luck. Laprap

    Jesuel,

    good morning.
Thank you for your comments and continued support of my artwork and me. It is very much appreciated. I never even considered the positive and negative aspects as you stated on the piece , interesting observation. But the difference in their personalities that would be another way few describing them (their outward personalities, as opposites of the same coin.)

I agree with your friend. I think you indeed captured the characters of the birds. Thank you very much for providing the story of Francis and Clarence. Francis in front has its beak out and an observing eye on any intruder. Clarence eye looks fierce. He seems ready for immediate action while he keeps a pose suggesting a benevolence he does not possess. I enjoy your excellent attention to detail and exact lighting and the cleanliness of your pencil strokes. The drawing is well composed and framed. Perspective and proportions are flawless. I wished I had more to provide, but ac Cyber-six is all I have to award.

Hi Lucien, After I read your notes I paid special attention to the eyes and stance of the birds.
Clarence and his super puffed out chest denotes his, I am the boss attitude. His eye adds to that feeling of, I mean business, don't get in my way! It is wide bright and alert! The pulled back head gives you that feeling too. Francis looks more laid back with a lower puffed out chest. He looks totally relaxed. The smaller pupil in his eye gives him a calmer attitude. By the look of the two I would rather have met Francis than Clarence.

I think you did a wonderful job showing off the posture of the birds it shows of their personality well. I like the way you positioned them in the image too. I can see why you were commissioned to draw these birds. GREAT JOB! :o) Helvi
