The snake itself seems sharp and well lit.. but the foreground grass really impedes the actual shot.
I'm sure it was not an easy shot to take to make it come out perfect... but perhaps a different angle would have helped.

Since there were many of them and the grass was long, plus they were close to a pond and I was holding my dog at the same time, it was the best I could do, these snakes were mating and so I didn't want my dog bitten or them distressed, sorry if its not to your liking but I was trying to get the eyes and head more than anything

A very good entry into the competition posted here! Your fine and appropriate composition offers a good sense of just how well it is camouflaged over there!! Looks very slivery too. Sharpness and exposure are good. Well done and good luck!
