Not sure of the DOF on this one. I can see that you have the eye in sharp focus, but the rest of the image seems a little soft? Not sure if it is this site (as lots that I upload come out softer than I see on my monitor), but maybe a high f number to head the head all in focus. It's hard to comment on here, not knowing what the original image looks like. Lighting looks good, and I like the line of shadow on the left. Good luck for the competition.

I am grateful for your nice review! I have no problem with your ideas on DOF. On the site it does appear a bit soft, but it sharp on my monitor.
-
Why does the site do that to sharp images?

Got no idea!

a wonderful very, very close up, some people would cal it a macro, of this seagull; sharp focus with outstanding control of exposure for the white; there is just a problem that I can't determine: are the seagulls considered as ducks???

Great close up head shot!
He looks quite intense.
Great detailing in the white feathers around the beak.
Love the simplicity of the shot. Really great capture!

This is a beautiful shot of an indeed beautiful bird. Your photo is excellently focused and exposed. I am impressed by the sharpness of detail and the realism of color and light. The tight framing is adequate. The portrait is balanced.
Unfortunately, you posted your photo in a wrong contest. This contest ask for ducks, but your photo shows a seagull. I am afraid your photo will be disqualified.

Although Ducks and Gulls are classified as Aves, Ducks belong to the family Anatidae while Gulls belong to the family Laridae. For more information search WIKIPEDIA.

Fantastic portrait of this seagull. I like the blue background from the sky. It really enhances the bird. Good focus and lighting. Sharp detail. Nicely done. Good luck in the photo contest.

despite being a great photo, correct me if I am wrong .but this is a gull not a duck ? so as a result Ive reduced the rating down one point as it does not correlate with the title, however, the actual shot is brilliant, great focus and excellent structure
This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

Well good seagull shot with good detail and fills the frame so well, but it begs the question why is it in a duck contest,it does not qualify,a bird contest yes,but a duck contest no...Brian
