A beautiful image of this seahorse,it does indeed appear to be illuminated from inside,glowing against the dark background. Very fine detailing and use of light and shadow which gives this seahorse depth and realism. A lovely painting of a unique creature,very well done!

The painting succeed in my opinion. The lighting is especial attractive. The yellow reflections and the little white light spots draw our attention to the unusual structure of the body. The creature looks indeed mythical. It reminds me of the horses who draw Poseidon's carriage. The animal looks attractive on the dark background. The perspective is excellent. The Seahorse gained an 3D appearance. This might be like a seahorse looks in the spotlight of a diver. The Seahorse is perfectly placed on the canvas. Negative and positive space are in balance.

For some reason, I love seahorses. I only see them at the aquarium, but they seem to be just floating along and quite happy with their life. What a concept. I didn't know that the males carried the babies until they were born. Is that the little white specks on your painting? I bet the female still had to squeeze them out, though. :))

Lucien, my favorite sea creature! I recently visited a seahorse 'farm' in Tasmania, Australia. This painting is gloriously capturing the feel I had when there. Inspiring me to get out there and paint some myself! :D The 'dappled' sparkle of the seahorse, exactly as I remember.
I also love the 'space' you have created with the water surrounds, not filling the frame completely with just the seahorse, which makes it stand out even more.

Beautiful painting. Coloring is great as is the detail. They are wonderful creatures to see while scuba diving but so very tiny and difficult to find. They do have such a magical mystique to them. Thoroughly enjoyed this.
