This is so adorable. The detail is also great! I love the shadows! The fur is so detailed, but the kicker is their little blown up harmonica cheeks!! Too much! The music notes close the piece with edgy cuteness.

Guess you have overlooked my mentioning of how you rate fellow members. I do suggest go to the site's content page to how to rate fellow members. That way you don't have to take my word over it. Wink. Thanks for the review

I just looked at it. I didn?t have it before the reviews. One I had rated higher though. No`t sure what happened.

I guess I?m just going to retire from reviewing😞

oh Jenniann, if you stop reviewing your fellow members, it would be a disadvantage for you. 1st. it helps announces your presence to the several hundred members. 2nd. the site allows you to earn FAR $ to be used for promoting your work instead you having to pull any money out of your own pocket. they also throw out additional bonuses to assist in that promotion. see this site doesnt just show your work. it not only help you to interact with artist from all mediums (traditional art, digital art, mixed media, and photography). also when you post your work will also be exposed to writers and musicians, which they are also allow to post to their work on FanMusic and FanStory sites. more exposure for you. let me give you a better idea on the star ranking....
6 stars meaning the work is excellent.
5 stars meaning the work is
    great.
4 1/2 stars meaning the work is good
    but could use some improvement.
4 stars meaning the is still good but need more improvement.
3 stars meaning a whole lot of improvement.

now a word of advise if you award someone a 1 star be ready for your explanation why this 1 star was given to a member. this site tries to keep all reviews civil and keep the peace among all its members..they will not tolerate a member verbally attacking another member. your write ups on the review is fine. no improvement there. its just star rankings is off. did you know that if your nominated from a fellow member in your review, your name is submitted to a committee? that committee looks at the reviews and they award the best reviewer $100 cash? well its sent on a visa card still the same thing. they do that every month as well announce the winner to all members. so dont stop reviewing fellow members, because you see it would be to your disadvantage. wink..anything else i can help just holler. (thumbs up)

I just actually started feeling sorry for myself because of one sassy person?s comment. It?s been a tough 15 months for me. I actually used to be a product reviewer and a book reviewer, and a traditional artist for 32 years, so you?d think I?d be pretty good at it. I guess I?m just gonna have to be more generous with the stars.
reply by the author on 24-Jul-2020
its not how generous your being with the stars. im just helping you with the syncing the review with the stars..if you like the work but in your opinion some improvement could be done that is where the 4 1/2 stars have been left. let me give ya an example...lets say someone posted the most awesome work..very appealing to the viewer and worth a 6 star. however, the artist capture the work on a stand, or wall, or laying on the floor, etc..sadly since the artist didnt crop out any excess that is not the work, i had no choice but to rate it a 5 instead of 6 that the work is worth. i do tell the artist why and explain that presentation of your work is just as important as the work itself..you know 1 st impressions is lasting..that helps the artist if they are interested. now if someone here on FAR is not giving you constructive criticism and being slanderous or just being hateful you can report them to the admin under contact. the admin (Tom) will be immediately investigating it and he will deal with it quickly. our reviews to other artist must always be civil. there is nothing wrong with saying i like the work is good but i dont like the subject. see all reviews are opinions..we all have different ones and that is what makes us human..lolol. dont let the negative reviews get ya..see i really dont consider myself as an artist but as an illustrator and cartoonist..now why do i say that? in my opinion artist work express themselves or opinions. they will try to create an initial impact on the viewers eye...me as an illustrator and/or cartoonist, our work will always tell a story even if it is only 1 image..also i never work with any art medium..mine is a office medium known as sharpie and bic pens. been working with these pens for over half century now. see growing up in a depressed area in the 60's they never offered any art class in school. i checked out books and practice my pens..heck you can say DC and Marvel comics were my teachers by their example work. in my younger years i would get pissed hearing "hey great drawing! so when are you gonna do some real artwork?" my response "this is artwork..what do you consider as art?" then i would get same different responses like oils, pastel, etc. it was even more fun trying muscle into the art community and for them to take you serious with this medium. im hard headed and kept plugging. there so many motivational music out there but i still find Tom Petty's " I wont back down" is my inspirational song for me. if you get the time look me up on youtube.com..there you will find numerous 3 to 4 minute illustrated music videos with wide range of music and stories/topics..now if you dont youtube you can find me on fanart sister site fanmusic..just look up my name spelled just like it is. who knows? i might even make ya chuckle..wink.
reply by Jenniann Westnifer911 on 24-Jul-2020
I actually use sharpies as my primary medium too! It?s just a different type of art. I use alcohol ink and sharpies together. That?s how I did my ?Ignition? piece. What you said makes sense. I?m probably going to be the Simon Cowell of this site. I don?t see myself handing out a ton of six stars. If everything is completely perfect and spot on then yes, but what piece can?t use a little something? I?m going to look at your portfolio. I love your little singers!
reply by the author on 24-Jul-2020
check out the videos 1st if ya get a chance..i joke with folks saying it is realistic that very few folks looks at a whole portfolio...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...lol..darling i have over 1000 drawings ih there..maybe it would be more entertaining if you check out my music videos. ..you can find me on either YouTube.com or FanMusic.com , just look me up by my name mkflood(1 word)..i do promise it will bring out some kind of emotion from ya..wink

You are correct! Much more entertaining way to view you drawings. So far my favorites are serenity, sacred and Beale street. Love!

I love this work! At first glance I expected to see a " see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil," but upon further observation, it almost makes me think of jazz music. I like that your art invokes a feeling .

Karen I'm more of a blues fan than jazz but I appreciate the sentiment. Btw I know your new so you have familiar yourself with the scoring. If you give a 41/2 stars that translate that it's ok but need minor improvement. Now I total understand why you scored like you did since didn't know. However, other members might take a lil offense if you score it that way without an explanation. Just trying to help out. Let me be the 1st to welcome you to FAR. I hope your adventures here will be successful. If there is anything I can assist you with just holler. If I don't know the answer I will be happy to point you in the right direction. Welcome aboard and thanks for the review. (Thumbs up)

We have had some sweltering heat up here in Michigan so I know just how these guys feel. I wish I could play the harmonica and even tried when I was younger. Best of luck in the contest.

Brilliant. No 6s left in the bag. But this is so original yet I see your style, your mark. The characters are well formed, in lively active positions, they have that music playing attitude. The colours are so right and well matched with background etc. Love it.

Hey there Flood!
At first glance I thought these critters were having a nice puff of their favorite smokes haha. When I clicked on it I realized they were blowing on their harmonicas! The Critters have been drawn well and I like how you drew the details on the fur to give it texture and depth. As always, great work!

funny that you mention it.. years ago i was stationed at Ft. Sill, Ok. and right next to the base is the wildlife refuge..lots of buffalos..however in the middle of the refuge is prairie dog city. it was fun to visit there..one time i threw down a lit cigarette and the prairie dog ran over and grabbed it. at that same time i took a picture and look just like that dog was smoking it. sadly i lost that picture over the years. did he smoke it..hell no..as soon as he saw the smoke he tossed it..it was a funny site though..wink. thanks for the great review.

    Haha that's awesome!

Storytelling! I like the relatively neutral colour palette, and such detail in the little critters. Their cute little cheeks, blowing into the harmonicas, you can 'hear' the music'.
All the best in the competition MKFlood! :D

Keep creating,

Comment from Julie Levine

I like the lighter color of the dogs with harmonicas. I also like the use of music notes. Good contrast of light and dark colors. The shadow looks real.

So funny! I had to give you a six for this one. Good attention to detail.. I love the use of harmonicas they are playing. It seems to be a lost art. Great blending. I just like it all!

Always wondered what prairie dogs did for entertainment, know I know! These guys are way cool, playing away on those harmonicas, livening up the desert scene. Like how you have them up on the mound where everyone can see them and the music can travel the farthest. Very well drawn,as always, the shading defines the texture of their fur, colors very complimentary and good details throughout. A unique and very creative take on the contest theme,I wish you all the best!
