and that would have taken a little time to get to the end of this second longest pier in the UK..have walked it many a time myself as I am only a 4 minute drive away on the coastal road from Ainsdale.Your image is at an excellent angle portraying the sheer length of this pier and the structure very good with the shadow and beautiful skyline working as an added bonus to this piece.

nice view of southport pier,its a long time since I was on this pier at southport,like the people giving this a bit of human interest,out of interest does southport still have them metal fronts to some of the shops there....brian

what a beautiful pier, very different to our Cleethorpes robust pier. Piers are a god-send for none swimmers like me. You can stand at the end and think yourself in the water, swimming for ever into eternity.

I always enjoy pictures that have a vanishing point. Your photo has great colors and the arches soften the angles. Nice soft colors. Great job.

It's a fine capture with great leading lines, water reflection and fine Depth. I like the curved poles with lamp lights.
My only suggestion would be to crop right after that white pole on left so that we are led in with zero distractions.

I like the way you composed the image. The shadow of the bridge and the sky reflected in water gives the image depth. What I like is the odd shaped street lights with the people walking under them. Well famed, Even lighting. Well composed.

Nice work on this one Nik. The point off view is great. It leads the eye from the lower left to the far reaches of the scene.
I like the details in the lower left and the sky blends so well with the pier.

A very nicely composed shot although on first glance I thought I might crop off that partial strut that supports the overhead lights. The sky makes a beautiful background and the colors are appealing.
