You are right, one the simplest things in nature, but at the same time very fascinating. I always go around looking spirals like this. The green colors look fantastic, and I think the photo has a strong visual compact, and I like the way the light is falling on the spiral.
Your focus is sharp showing clear and well defined details, and the exposure is very good.
I like the format you have cropped the photo into, and also the placement of the spiral within the frame. A truly lovely and well taken photo with a very good DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

I like the contrast created between the clear focus of the spiral, and the slightly out of focus background. It makes the spiral pop right out of the image! The shades of vibrant green, the texture of the leaves, and the perfect curl of the spiral
add interest and charm to this simple image. Great job!
