What a lovely idea! I have never heard of such a shell; any idea of the name? Lovely colors, very alive water scene! You really have a touch for "waterscapes," seascapes and beaches...

Wow thank you. These shells are found on the western tip of the island and are thrown up at high tide onto the sand bank ridges. Not so many walk that way. The shells are getting less and less. I tried to find their Latin name but failed. They resemble the shape and colour of old little clams. The small clams are farmed on the sandbanks around the island along with oysters. A lot of the cafe/bars use them as ashtrays, they are thick and strong. I have heard that they can produce wild pearls, very rare and very valuable if you find one.

At first sight I thought this was a mask , so colourfully painted!:) Creative use of the shells. Skillful technique: excellent blending.Overall very impressive. Good luck!

Thats funny seeing a mask but I can see where you are coming from, and masks are so much to the fore at the moment. Thank you for reviewing it is much appreciated.

how fantastic, at Cleethorpes we think a two inch shell is huge! This is a wonderful idea and after lock down, I think will be a real attraction. Well done. I really like that. Have you varnished them to give them durability. Great idea!

Thank you. Loved your comments. Message me your address and I will send you one. Ps yes I am vanishing them. The varnish makes them zing... photo isn't doing this justice.

Very beautiful artwork. Love the blue hues of the ocean. How it starts out with dark and blends in to the lighter aqua colours. The caps on the waves stand out nicely. Beautiful scene.

Your idea to paint seascapes onto large shells is intriguing. Your technique is interesting. The scenery is appealing. You created attractive movement with the reeds which seem to sway in the wind and the white capped waves in the background. Although, the painted horizon and the boardwalk seem level, they look tilted, because of the shape of the shell. You might take another photo and of your shell pushing the right side slightly, then replace your post with the new version.

Thank you for your review and comments very much appreciated. The photo does not do justice, the bevel in the shell creates an horizon with a slight curve as you see in a wide panarama and can allows you to see the world curvature. The broadwalk is straight but the photo as you say gives it a tilt view. I couldn't rephoto as someone bought it only yesterday so I put it into PIXLR software photo edit where you can change the horizontal. It worked and did straighten the broadwalk but the horizon went up to a slant on the left side. These hints on photography are welcome. I am doing more shell artwork so do take your advice on checking such details. Again thank you.

A very good looking image posted here! Your, to me, novel presentation is quite attractive. I like your traditional composition, giving appropriate space to the beach, sea and sky. Wish I was there now! Well done and good luck!

As I live on the shores of Lake Michigan, this scene warms my heart and makes appreciate our warm summer we have been having. This scene is a window into the lakeshore life. For some it could be the seaside life. The slight tilt of of the scene gives the feel of the rolling dunes we have that shelter the beach homes. Colors are warm and inviting. The boardwalk leads us to the warm waters of a refreshing dip in the lake. Love the scene.

Thank you so much for reviewing. I loved your remarks. This is the south beach of this island, next stop Africa. Just shows though how similar lakes and sea edges can be.
