Insects on a Dahlia Bloom

Very pretty image Annie and indeed you were lucky to photograph two insects on the same flower. It looks more like the plant itself attracted the insects...due to its beautiful center with many stamens and pistols.
I know certain flowers really attract all sorts of insects due to their fragrance and color.
Yes I do suppose its natures way of continuing the circle of things. Beautiful image and wonderful colors.

Annie, this is so beautiful.

Your colors and clarity are so crisp and your subjects posed perfectly.

I also love the topaz after effects you have given this one. Just so beautiful.

The color harmony between flower and the insects is good. The colors are repeating within each element of the composition's focal points.

I do think that the negative space is in need of something to break sit up some visually, like a repeating faded set of smaller versions of the flower to add depth and a better perspective and flow of the piece

What you have is good, but for me, the composition lacks visual depth.

Thank you for allowing me to comment on your work.

Have good day, stay safe.
Cheers.
Lucien

Nice timing to capture the two different insects on the same flower. The dahlia is very lovely indeed, you have photographed it well with perfect camera settings , this is well focused, this image is sharp and clear, I see good detail over every visible part of this flower as well as a clear view off the butterfly and hover fly.
Well composed against the soft background, well presented!

Annie,
A beautiful picture of this single deep crimson Dahlia with a golden centre & two visiting insects, on top a Marmalade Hoverfly ~ Episyrphus balteatus & a Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly ~ Aglais urticae on the lower petals hoping to suck nectar. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting & soft blurred background from which the Dahlia glows & stands out in sharp focus. Taken with superb camera & editing techniques.

This is an extraordinary mixed media creation. To find two insects of different kind on the same blossom is exiting, but that those two insects have almost the same colors is fascinating. The photo is perfect focused and exposed and exquisitely treated with mixed media. I enjoy the sharpness of detail and the realism of color. The lighting of the background resembles light at the blossom and insects well. The composition is charming. The blossom and the insects are excellent placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.

Your garden of dalhia's must be goregous. Your use of subdued light and neutral background, pops the flower. Getting insects to cooperate is a bonus. Beautiful butterfly giving the scene a bit contrast. The bursting blossom's petals are rich in color. Nice scene.
