This photo is so captivating, I'd like to paint it! Softening the "spikes" in the sky would make it totally realistic. The hues as perfection.

driving thru the wildlife refuge one time in a fog i almost hit one of them. luckily i had a lil common sense of going slow in the fog. the bison just looked at me a slowly moved away. i was lucky not to piss it off..lol. cool capture. i like the colors that you brought out in the background. the angle of the shot of this bison is great. the capture of the light is great. the clarity ius great. the image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

I especially like the close and personal approach, and also the way you have edited the sky. It makes for a fantastic looking background for this impressive looking Buffalo. He actually has a very kind look in his fase, and so peaceful while grassing.

The photo is also very sharp and it is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen in the face of the Buffalo. You have also managed to bring out so well the textures of the fur, and the exposure is perfect.

The tight cropping has worked well, and the animal has got a very good placement within the frame. A truly lovely and well taken photo Steve, and with a very good DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Thank you so much Annie for your wonderfully detailed and artistic review and comments. I'm glad you picked up on some of the details I worked on (textures of the fur, the face and the background sky).

This was a fun one to create and make it out of the ordinary. I Very much appreciate your More than Generous rating Annie. That is very encouraging ~ Steve

yes really well presented. like the north american indians who lived within the nature, wild, brutal yet free. this is such a magnificent beast. could be a new symbol of hope, as we face a mass extinction of almost every species, including our very selves.

Cows are sacred in my country because every part of it is helpful to man. Actually we should consider all living beings sacred. This is a fine looking wild life shot. Overall very impressive. Good luck!

LOL Thank you so much BFF. Yes this was a fun one to play with.

One reviewer said that she hoped I didn't too close and used zoom to get the shot. I told her that I used my iPhone and that everything was going well until I tried to pet him for a selfie. (It ended badly and left a mark).

I so appreciate your extra sparkle BFF. Thank you, thank you ~ BFF

Steve,
A beautiful picture of this Sacred Buffalo ? Bison his shaggy winter coat almost gone as it's summer coat appears under it. The sky behind appears to be in flames. It's a tragic that these magnificent animal that once roamed free across the plains are so reduced in numbers. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
