What a beautiful and brilliantly colored bird! The colors of the little bird simply glow! The composition allows me to feel like I am peaking through a whole in a tree finding this amazing bird. I really like the overlapping branches giving great texture to the photo! Wish I had a six star rating for you...love this sweet photo!!

Enjoyed this photo! You are welcome!

Either I don't see the fish he's digesting, or there is another purpose for composition. He does look quite chubby. I don't think I like the framing, or I just don't like the color. I think I'd go with the color.

Thanks a million for your complementary review on this Kingfisher resting in the Willows as it digests it's freshly caught Minnow. They are about the same size as a House Sparrow. What makes them difficult to capture is the fact when they perch it's often under overhanging branches in poor lighting.

The bright blue really captured my attention, but I think the rest of the image is to dark in comparison. Just my opinion, I do like the oval border that brings focus on your subject. Keep them coming Susan!

You would think a little guy could eat in peace. The details and your lighting is great. Al least he has his back to you for a bit of privacy. The crop is nicely done and the matting makes this a scene to hang on to or hang on a wall. We used to own a frame shop.

The light amplifies the beautiful colors of the Kingfisher remarkably. Your photo is well focused and exposed. The overlaid frame concentrates our attention on the bird. The photo is well composed. The composition is balanced.

An interesting rear perspective that shows the detail in his plumage very well. I like the branch he is perched on and the beautiful color of his feathers.

    Mike,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this male Kingfisher busy digesting his freshly caught Minnow on a branch in the Willow on the river bank. My arms were aching baby the time I had finished taking 12 pictures of which about 4 were OK.
