A beautiful buck that looks great in this profile. The image is very sharp and the colors are nicely highlighted by the goldenrod in the background.

    Thank you!

He has been working hard to get his antlers polished and ready to defend the honor of his lady. The scrapped moss hanging down is the last remnants of his now mature antlers. Your focus and lighting are sharp and on point or points. Good crop gives the opportunity to see him up-close and personal.

Your photo is beautiful in every way. I need your help with the antler debate. I taught 5th grade and we had a guy for fish and wildlife come in every month. One of his talks was about a deer's antlers and how he lost them every year, but you would never find them in the woods because the wildlife would eat them. When do they lose their antlers and how quickly do they grow back? I was telling my grandkids about this and the adults were listening. They didn't believe me. Here is a perfect example of what I was talking about. He is a beauty!

Bucks usually start dropping their antlers here in New York State from January into March. The last pic I have of Bullseye with antlers was on March 7,and a couple of days later he showed up without them.I have a photo I took of him on April 20,and his new ones had already started to grow and were a couple of inches high. I was fortunate and found both his antlers, lying near each other,on a neighboring property, with only a small amount of chewing by rodents. I have found some antlers in the wood,by chance, later in the year, that managed to go unnoticed by mice and chipmunks, while others are quite chewed up. I very rarely find them when I am purposely looking for them,it?s usually when I?m not that I stumble upon them. They would be a lot easier o find if they were the size of elk or moose antlers-lol!

Moose antlers are quite large! It just amazes me that this happens to begin with. Nature is a beautiful thing!

It?s definitely a nice rack,I?m hoping they both make it through deer season (bow starts on Thursday),it would be great if I could find Bulleye?s rack again next spring,as well as Niner?s.

    That would be awesome,LeeAnn!

A very good looking nature shot posted here! In terms of colour on my screen brown yes, crimson no!! Your grand composition offers us an enjoyable portrait of Bullseye. Well taken!

Thank you, they look redder in this shot compared to others I have taken since.

I see the difference and the small strings of velvet. Although, Bullseye has not the mighty antlers of Niner, he looks respectable and handsome. The portrait is excellent focused and exposed and has good depth. I appreciate the sharpness of detail and the realism of color and light. The buck is perfectly placed within the frame. The portrait is well balanced and composed.
