I think I would have hesitated trying to pass this guy, but just like you, I would probably stop to take a photo. This guy is posing for you in an impressive way, and I like very much the brown hues of the background. The bird is standing out from it in an excellent way.

The photo is sharp and it is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen in every part of the bird. I also think both the white balance and exposure is spot on.

The format you have cropped the photo into works well, and the Pelican has got a fine placement off to the left. A truly lovely and well taken photo Eileen, and with an excellent DOF.

I love it! It reminds me of the pelican in Finding Nemo. He looks so serious, and I love that he is pigeon toed. I like the unusualness of him walking on the sidewalk. I have a big smile on my face.
