I like how the angle of this shot shows the colors and patterns of both sides of the this guy's wings. The colors are well exposed and the shadows don't distract from the subject. The clarity shows off the shape of the wings nicely too.

Great capture. My luck would to have it fly away before I could get close eye. Lighting and focus are on point. The neutral landing pad allows him to be a real standout.

a superb capture of this delightful insect as it rests on the rock.The contrasting greyish backdrop against the stunning red,black and white of this butterflies wing pattern works beautifully

What a pretty butterfly! I like that it has landed on the neutral toned rock , he butterfly is well placed in the frame and stands out in a wonderful way without distractions.
Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is correct, the colors and tones appear true and natural. Well composed and presented!

This is such a lovely butterfly, and you have pictured it so well. I especially like the neutral colors of the background, and also how lovely the light is falling on it. A nice shadow is captured as well, and the butterfly is standing out in an excellent way.

The focus is spot on and sharp, and it is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen both in the wings and the body of the butterfly. The exposure is perfect.

I also like the format you have cropped the photo into and the placement of the butterfly within the frame. I think this is a truly lovely and well taken photo, and with an excellent DOF.

an excellent entry Jirina to the insect contest with this beautiful black butterfly with some whites and orange color at the tip of the wings;
no idea about the secies but obviously not pale and even less swallowtail butterfly;

This Pale Swallowtail is interesting in the way it is positioned so you can see the details of the body.
The shadow and background
emphasizes the Swallowtail.
Nice shot.

Jirina,
A beautiful picture of this Pale Swallowtail bathed in sunshine perched on a rock it's shadow seen beneath it. The sunlight showing off it's beautifully coloured & patterned wings. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
