This is an exquisite close up. I see single hairs and the frost clinging to her coat.
Your photo is perfect focused and exposed and has good depth. I enjoy the sharpness of detail and the realism of color and light. The frosted trees in the background are interesting.
The Moose is perfectly placed within the frame. The portrait is well composed.

Great shot,Pat,I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that you get to photograph a bull moose lying down! I really love the sheen on her beautiful coat, she's well focused with good exposure and eye clarity. She stands out well against the branches and looks like something has captured her attention. How great to have these beautiful creatures coming to visit!

Thank you so much LeeAnn, last night a yearling Bull Moose came through the back yard with a long blue extension cord wrapped around his antler, he managed to drag it and jumped over the fence without it falling off. We saw him again today in the neighborhood on our way to the store, the cord was off his antler. I am still waiting for a full grown bull to stop in the back yard to rest.

really well planned photograph with the meshing at the back as opposite to the strong brown animal leading us into it. Did you find that the same animal ever came back to your yard repeatedly. Fantastic.

Thank you so much! Yes, I believe the same moose come through the neighborhood, they may have been born nearby and are pretty comfortable with people, cars and barking dogs. The moose out in the wilderness are quite afraid of cars and people .

A beautiful specimen and a great portrait of her. I like the snow on the trees and the warm tone of her coat. A very nice looking profile with a great eye.

Hey Pat!
What a beautiful portrait you have presented of this mother moose! I use to work at a mountain resort and every year a mother moose and her calves would swim across the lake, it was awesome! This post reminds me of those times. Beautiful work!

Great portrait of this mama moose that is staying healthy eating your shrubs. So gracious of you, but else can you do ? Splendid details and coloring. The background with the snow on the trees is beautiful-maybe to cold for the moose?

Thank you so much Jirina! The moose are well equipped to handle the cold, they have thick fur.

Nice composition!
Good focus and clarity.
Sounds as though you have a "Nature Preserve" in your backyard!!
The Moose looks healthy and content peacefully eating. The background of the frozen ice on the trees
and snow drippings on the moose add an icy chill to the scene.
(Love the beauty of nature in the winter)
