Actually I think this is a well done abstract for the Flash Flood theme. It conveys motion, a bit of chaos and the stark rendering with black ink on light gray paper adds to the drama of the work.

Great job Lucien and a perfect entry for the contest. Best of fortune in the voting ~ Steve

    Steve,
I understand that it is hard sometimes to see what the artist was trying to create. Do you see the storm clouds on the upper right area and then the rain more to the upper middle of the composition? And then as you move down into the image the canyon walls eroded by previous flash floods, and then the water starting to flow near the base.

Thank you for your time and comments on this piece of art, it is appreciated.
Have a good day, be safe.
    Cheers,

I like to hear of off the cuff ways to achieve art pieces and this is one. Your mind imagined what you heard and this result is a flow of lines interpreting the description of a flash flood. I can see the rush of riverlets moving towards a greater force. The strokes are bold and fluid. Without your description I am not sure that I would have guessed it but would enjoy it as an abstract line work. The black ink on white is always impacting. Well done from a hidden reference good exercise too.

You have created on pape what your ears heard and mind must have perceived. An interesting abstract art. I like the dynamic flow of lines. Thanks for sharing!

I understand that you were trying to convey water and flood like waters. I feel like you accomplished this in the top right area. Unfortunately, the rest remind me of sand dunes or mountain ridges. I really wish there was an added feature to distinguish it as water, like something floating along the waves. I do like the idea that you have started with.

There is a lot of intricate lines in this work. Without the title I don't know if the viewer would know what they were looking at. I like the strong lines and the intent. This artistically fantastic.

I have never seen flash flood in real life, but this drawing looks like one to me. It could also represent large lava flow that is already cold, maybe even dry. The lines and waves are in nice balance with each ether creating the movement motion feeling.

I have seen flash floods. You drove a good likeness of them. How the water rushes over the rim, taking sand and debris with it is realistic. How you combine line- and zentangle-art is impressive. I appreciate your your attention to detail and texture. The lines show the fast flush of water excellently while the zentangle pattern show stones and broken wood. The diagonal presentation of the rim pleases the equilibrium of the viewers. Your drawing is well composed and framed.

    Cleo,

you are very observant. Seeing the zentangle within the image is really a pleasant surprise to read, rather then people not seeing any of what you are seeing, or even the possibility of a flash flood... to be fair many saw an abstract version of good line quality and flow of the lines within the drawing, which is nice as well.

As always thank you for your constant support and really good reviews.

Take care of yourself and stay safe.
    Cheers.
