This is a beautiful photo of a female mallard duck. The focus is great and the details in the duck's feathers are perfect. I love the colours in the background and foreground. The shadow is also lovely. Well done!

You are correct. The reflection does make the shot. The vertical framing also helps a lot as it allows us to see the moving water over the weir. The light plays on the water well. Even the trees have their day in the sun as they give us another depth of reflection beyond the duck's mirror image. Nicely cropped and presented.

The reflections of this lady duck are very nice.
The composition and presentation is perfect with the duck standing in the flowing water where the lights reflects blue color also present on the bird's feather.
