A lot going on here in a quiet way but your well written notes give us an insight to what is making this quite a special shot. I love the sense of blue throughout. The puffed up bird is giegeous and is in good focus. It is over all balanced and framed well and a pleasure to view.

The background has a painterly look, the dove is so pretty balanced on the wire all tucked in.
Fine focus, exposure, true and realistic colors and great placement within the frame.

The photo is sharp showing such clear and well defined details in the feathers of the bird, and the exposure is very good. Personally I would however have added just a bit more contrast.
I also like the format you have cropped the photo into and also the placement of the bird within the frame. A truly sweet and well taken photo, and with an excellent DOF.

A beautiful picture of this Morning Dove looking over it's shoulder perched on the wire with dew drops clinging to the wire the clouds floating in the blue sky seen through the morning mist. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

The secret to maintaining these layers of air lies in having clean, dry and flexible feathers. The cleaning process, generally known as preening, depends on the species of bird. My feet have been freezing this year and I have bought socks, how the heck do these little creatures keep their feet warm? ah yes, they tuck them under the feathers! lovely shot!
