This is a superb capture Chris.
Your shutter speed was high enough to stop the action of the breaking wave perfectly. What pleases me most is white balance. There is detail on the white foam including the soft spray of the splash up.
There are no excuses when it's done right. Focus and exposure are spot on here. ;)

This is a beautiful entry for this contest! Nice stop of the action here and you caught this wave at the perfect time as its splashing upward. I love the deep blue water making such a lovely backdrop for the white spray, the rocks add further interest as well as bringing texture to this scene. Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is well managed, the beautiful colors and tones appear natural. Well composed and presented! Best wishes to you in this contest!

Nice one of crashing waves and shows us the power of waves crashing although i do think if you had got a closer one[if possible] it would have been a bit more powerfull in this,good luck in the contest though...Brian
