I like the composition a lot, in fact it reminds me of my childhood growing up in Minnesota but.... It's really dark. I feel it need to be brightened up with a lot more contrast. Bring out the white more, thought brightness and contrast option?

Since it was a very cloudy day, its a little darker, I tried to brighten it as much as I could, it is what it is,

Very pretty river. The black and white adds a nice mood to the photo. Well it's all shads of black and white so there's not much to say for color. However the photo does appear to be a little on the dark side. This can be easily fixed with a photo editor. over all good photo and best of luck in the contest.

I have photo edited it to what I like, it was a cloudy day, I guess I will go on a very sunny day to take another photo of it when it thaws out as now its frozen, thanks for your thoughts

Nice landscape in black and white and the exposure and white balance are handled well to give natural colors for the snow. Good composition and focus and dof are good.

I read the title as muskrat in a river, lol. I'm glad I checked it again before I searched for a muskrat. I like this picture a lot! It works very well in black and white.

Yeah,, Im sure there are Muskrats around, this river goes to Muskrat Lake which I cannot wait to get fishing in., It has lots of fish species from Pike, Bass, muskie,and lake trout, whitefish and the elusive Gar Fish,
