I don't know him, but since your friend loved his portrait, I am sure you draw an excellent likeliness of him. His expression is indeed interesting. I am impressed by your accurate ball-pen strokes and the multitude of exact detail. The shading is perfect. The man is perfectly placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.

A beautiful portrait of a person with lots of expressions and thoughts being covered in the portrait art work. I love the black and white work and that seems more expressive than colored art work in this context. I really admire what you have done and you should be proud of it.

Very detailed drawing of this young man that is also artist; it seems like that he is deeply in thought and most likely reflecting on his life; you captured the moment very well with great details and overall nice presentation; thank you for sharing.

Great!, but to me he looks like an ordinary person, Not sad at all, or hurt, or angry, he looks cool, approachable, loveable, and cool, Is it because he is black that he should feel sad, angry, and hurt? Is that what racism looks like? All I see with this portrait is a man I would want to meet and have a dialogue with

Nothing to do with rasism I dont follow your remark. I think everyone sees something different. If someone is sad etc that should not make a difference if you want to meet them. Colour is not part of the reason here either. It's a beautiful face and
I loved his hair. I wanted to do and I wanted to see if I could make expressive eyes. I am so pleased you would want to meet him. I do appreciate your review and how this, affected you.

Well these days we are bombarded with racism in all tv shows, movies, news, everywhere, so when you said this person is sad, angry, and hurt, I assumed it was he is black, my mistake if I got it wrong, I do say that the portrait did not portray him as sad, angry or hurt, he just looks to me like an ordinary human being

well Your words made me think about it more ...I was looking for emotion in the eyes. I wasn't thinking of race though. May be I gave it the wrong title. title. I would never want to be offensive.

aha, well if being black is offensive that is racism is it not?, It is a talk piece, I am glad he likes it, good work and detailed, especially the hair, well done over all

I think we are in a muddle here Lisa. Definitely a discussion topic. I didn't mean offensive because he is black I meant offensive because of my title, how I emotionalised his eyes. It could be any nationality I just thought he was expressive, a face that was interesting Fortunatrly we don't have any racism on the island. .It's not in our papers or television. I see it in other parts of the world.. but others as well as you have seen him not angry. But thoughtful good discussion. And much appreciative of your comments.

A very good looking entry into the competition posted here! Your fine, central composition has created a good portrait image. Like the detailing of it and his hair. He does look sad and hurt, not sure about angry though! Well drawn and good luck!

Very well rendered to show your artist friend , excellent attention to the details, well shown hair and its style and texture, well shaped face and facial structure, his expression to me is thoughtful, as if he is pondering something, he has a broad forehead . You did an amazing job here Brenda, you bring him to life with your creation of his eyes, awesome work to show his facial hair. Well shown shirt collar too. Well presented!
