How interesting! That legend reminds me of some local folklore that's thought to be derived from 'First Nations' ( Iroquois ) myths regarding a female supernatural being known to us as the 'Night Swimmer'.
The statue holds undeniable 'erotic' appeal ( which makes seeing it very enjoyable! ) and your photograph of it looks Great!
