A rare posting of the Great Cormorant.
Sorry Fred, but seeing this on the front page is truly ridiculous.
Your white balance is WAY OFF and the entire capture is over exposed and blown.
The only two honest reviews you received here are from myself and Nikman.
It had the potential of being an amazing shot of a Cormorant most of us do not get to see. The Great Cormorant is not a species we have here.
Sorry...but this just proves that if you promote it, they will high five it.
It's a nice view of this Great Cormorant, but skill and knowledge of white balance and camera settings were needed to get this spot on.

Cloudy days offer the best flat light shooting. No excuse for over exposure when you shoot FULL MANUAL.
We both know if I posted this I get zero five ratings.
I expect more from #1. Lead by example Fred.

Quite a striking shot. I like the way you exposed for the dark feathers and let the tree trunk burn out. The gray highlights are nice and the cormorant is great.

oooo i know that scratch feels good. look at that face! LOL. the clarity is great. the angle of the shot of this bird scratching itself on the branch is great. the capture of the light is great. the image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

I just wondering if you are now taking your pictures in RAW format as the colours are subdued not as rich as they were in the past???

during the last two years, all my pics are taken in RAW and shifted to jpeg before posting;
I try to keep the colors as close as possible to their natural appearance;

A reasonable looking nature image posted here! Your fine and appropriate composition offers us an enjoyable view of the big scratching bird but not of its location which is over-exposed. Like its wing. Nice try though!
