This is an exciting and unusual flower. It is a new plant to me. It is a lovely blossom. Love how it opens to a fantastic center showing us natures design. Beautiful colors and presentation. The background adds to this composition. Good focus, clarity and texture.
And, nice technique.
Good that your son had an app on his phone to identify the flower. My nephew mentioned this app. Sounds like a good one to get.
Best of luck in the contest.

A good looking nature image posted here into the competition! Your fine and appropriate composition offers us an enjoyable view of that athletic bloom. Like its mass of petals and colours. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done and good luck!

What an interesting plant. I never heard of an Hottentot either. It looks like a succulent to me. Your photo is well focused and exposed and has good depth. The centered presentation of the blossom warrants a good balance of composition. The photo is well framed. The composition is balanced.

Yes it is indeed very beautiful bloom with nice pale yellow coloring.
You have presented this I believe is some kind of succulent, so nicely with soft green background green.

Wonderful details and overall pleasing presentation.
