well done. The painting is a bit dark on my laptop but can imagine how it glows in real life.Splendid idea. you got one on me too, I have just wasted a whole box of water solluble oils. I seriously had never heard of such a thing.. and just couldn't sort them out.

Thanks so much. I believe I like acrylics better after practicing on pleinair panels. I used to do really well in oils but the smell of cleaning us bothers me. So I'm trying the water soluble. Glad I painted acrylic under all except the red bird. Thanks again.

    I must try water-soluble again!!

The flow of this piece is nice. The unique shape really adds to that. The background is gently coloured and seemingly blurred as to not take away from the subject. The flowers are blended together nicely. The birds are accurate in their colouring and size. I find myself tilting my head to look at though, the male is on quite an angle. I think that takes away from the overall impact of the piece. Thanks for sharing, and good luck in the contest

Thanks. I'll see if I can change the view as it is a circle and should hang that way. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

What a beautiful idea to show the state bird and the state flower in the same painting. The bird-family scene is heart warming. The nestlings are cute. I hear them almost crying for food. Your attention to realistic color and detail is impressive. The painting is well composed. The framing is sufficient. The composition is balanced.
I believe the upload does no justice to your painting. I looks blurred at my screen. I have sometimes the same problem with my paintings. Usually it helps to save a copy in GIF format and then replace your upload with the GIF version. If you have any problems ask Tom.
I also appreciate the interesting comments about the species.

Thanks. I agree the upload doesn't do justice. I'll try to reload. Kind comments nevertheless.

    You're very welcome! :o)

I probably should not have blurred the background some. It was crooked but I reloaded removed initials.

I like the blurred background. It looks like the sky with tiny white clouds. :o)

This is a very lovely painting incorporating both your state bird and flower!.. The detail of the flowers and the background are well presented, I feel the birds however could use more detail and present somewhat akward. Good luck in the contest!

Thanks. I'm going to see if I can reload. The canvas shouldn't be tilted like this even though it is circular.

It's a great entry to the bird contest. I love the way you described your creation process and of course, it's superb outcome!! I found the circular frame to be rather interesting where you done full justice to your eventual composition. The Cardinal pair plus their young chicks getting fed is such an adorable subject just so high on cuteness quotient. Simply loved it. Best wishes for the contest

Thank you, Artistsushma. I need to try to upload it where it will be straight even though a circle. You do such wonderful work yourself.

A very nice looking scene that looks great in this round presentation. They sure seem to have a sizeable brood. The dogwoods are particularly nice. Best of luck in the contest.

Thanks. I did the painting mostly from memory and need to upright it more. This is one of my first paintings with acrylic; first, with water-soluble oil over acrylic. Thanks again. You are always so kind.

Thank you so-o-o much. A "6" you are extra kind. I painted it mostly from memory and a small amount of observance. First time painting water-soluble oils over acrylic.
