Great shot of the Tern. Sharp and close enough so we can see the variation in color of the feathers, the long open beak, his black cap and the double tail feathers. The sun trying to shine through the fog gives the bird a lovely background .

I almost took this for a painting Pat,it has a wistfull air about it,there is a feel of stillness in this even though its a bird in flight,the vertical format works really well in this,good capture...Brian

The tall format is adequate. The diagonal placement of the bird please the eyes of the viewers. The composition is balanced.

What an outstanding composition the artist captured in this photography and subject. The complete setting could be a beautifully blended pastel with the smooth, slightly hazed sunset background and more layers smoothed in building the Arctic Tern; or working other painting mediums. Even the slight white spot in the yellowish kinda looks like a spot of pastel paper coming through. So the work could double as an outstanding photograph creation or painting. You deserve an "6" but a "5" will have to suffice for now.
