After a dry spring we have been getting a lot of rain lately and the lake is as high as it was when the ice went out. A beautiful flower and a very fine shot. I like the detail and the way the water glistens.

The flower seem to enjoy the rain. Although wet the blossoms seem to smile. Your photo is excellent focused and exposed and has good depth. I appreciate the realism of color and light and the sharpness of detail. The light reflection in the rain drops is especial interesting. The tall format emphasizes the Hollyhock remarkably. The photo is well composed and framed. The composition is balanced.

Sounds like you have had very much the same weather as here in Oslo, because yesterday it started to rain after a long dry period. The poor Hollyhock flower is hanging with its head after the rain, but it can't hide its beauty. You have captured all the droplets so well and they are shining as small gems. I also think the background is looking good, and the pink flowers are standing out from it in an excellent way.

The photo is pin sharp and it is such clear and well defined details to be seen both in the flowers and the drops. The exposure is spot on.

The photo is nicely cropped and the flowers are well placed within the frame. The frame you have added also looks great. I think this is a truly lovely and well taken photo Susan, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Beautiful entry for this contest! You have photographed the hollyhock so very well Susan with spot on focus, this image is clear, exposure is correct, the lovely pink and green tones appear natural. The raindrops bring a sense of freshness.
Well composed and presented! Best wishes to you in this contest!

This could be framed, it is so pretty. I like the drops on the the petals, and the soft pink of the flowers. Sharp focus and good placement of the flower in the frame.

Excellent entry for the contest, Susan. Lovely presentation of this beautiful Hollyhock after a shower of rain. We have had very little rain on the East Coast, like you. I like the frame you applied to this which really shows it off well. Great camera techniques to show a lovely clear image. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne

The heatwave was difficult for me so I'm happy to see the rain after four weeks of dry weather.

This is very beautiful Susan, we have been getting quite a good rain this winter which makes a change from last few years. Love the pastel coloring of the flower as it droops under the weight of the water drops. Nicely composed with good focus and clarity.

A very good looking nature shot posted here! Very hard to believe it has not rained in 4 week! Rained here more or less every other day. Your image is well composed with good exposure and sharpness. Nicely done!

    Nik,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on these Hollyhocks...we had a heatwave with temperatures between 25 & 30 most days...my sister was very happy I was praying for rain... So I could stop using the hose to water my pots. Now I hope we don't get 30 days of rain like we got in1975 after the last long heatwave.
