Nice job on this painting. You have an opaque look to the painting. I might have guessed acrylic paints. Nice shadows and the green background sets it off nicely. The white edging of the pedals seems a little stark as if the flower is starting to fade.

Thank you. I suppose I wanted to be sure the watercolor painting details didn't fade. LOL. It was a long time ago but sometimes my work done then was better; at least it takes longer now as I fight an autommuine disease, etc, but keep faith in God to come through. Thanks again, Barbara, you are so kind and a gifted artist yourself.

I was scrolling through the art and totally forgot I was looking at art and not photos. This looks like a photo. I hope that is a compliment to you because that is how it is meant. It looks so real! The beautiful, bright red color and the use of dark and light to differentiate the petals is expert. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, thank you. This means so much to me and I take it indeed as a compliment because most of my style is realism. I am now trying to do a little different from time since I've done more photography and my gift is more drawing, etc. Thanks so much for the "6" as well.

This is really beautiful. Watercolor is a challenge, but I enjoy it. I am self-taught. Someday I will post one of mine. The colors are wonderful and you have managed to show the textures of the petals. Great job!

Thank you, Aunty Jan, and thanks so much for the "6". Means so much to me. I have gone back to drawing and painting as physically able, but not back to watercolor yet. First I went back to pastel (oil) portrait (taught myself pastels), acrylic, water soluble oils, and bought material to do watercolors again, hopefully the pencils and brushes. Let's do that. I look forward to seeing your watercolor posting also. Thank you again.

This is creative and beautiful to view! The bright red of the roses against the yellow and dark green background is pleasing. Details of the rose are nicely achieved and the light outlines on petal tops a nice touch. Well composed and nicely presented!

Beautiful painting of this rose that is so nice to view.
Great brush strokes and vivid colors with contrasting white and yellow edges are very nice.

This is a beautiful rose. This is painted in full sunlight. Yes there is some shadows but not enough. The right has them but left doesn't. I find red is better to photograph in bright cloudy days not sun. Brings out the details much better.

Thanks. I actually painted it as I saw it from a photograph a friend photographer gave me. Just tried to capture the rose in a different way via watercolor. But, thank you again.

Red flowers are difficult to photograph.Has to be more difficult to paint. But I will say the red color is so vivid.
