Your friend should like this. One could take it as a painting. I never heard of zest it. It is very nicely done even the attitude. Don't ask roosters have attitudes? Lol

I was very interested in your Technic and the use of zest it or baby o. I never thought you could do anything on top of pencils which for me makes yoyrrooster very interesting. I see lots of colour and variations in shade which is well carried out and applied using just pencils. The effect with your other additions give the piece texture and more depth I believe from pencils alone. I like his attitude stance. The background is unobtrusive and supports the portrature well.

Thank you kindly. When I used the Zest-it only some (or the baby oil, less), I alays add color pencil again.

This is really cute! That expression in the eye makes all the difference and tells a story you're trying to tell here. You better back up he's gonna come get you! He did a good job depicting this rooster with an attitude.
Great color choices and positioning too.
He could be a good illustration for a book.

This Roster indeed has lots of attitude. His pose looks arrogant. I have the feel that he will pick the eyes of everyone who does not obey his demands. Your bold pencil strokes are impressive. I appreciate your attention to realistic detail and color. The artwork is well composed. The tight framing is adequate. The composition is balanced.

His attiude does not seem as daunting as most roosters do! I appreciate that you explained your unique and experimental process! Just imagine convincing any other rooster submit to baby oil and zest-it! This turned out well!

I love this!!!! I'm actually about to start on a rooster commission myself:) The colors are lovely and the form is very nice. I'm bot sure if this is just the quality of the photo, but my only suggestion is to work on the texture of the feathers. Beautiful job!

Thank you. I'm not sure, I just took a photo of the rooster I did in colored pencil, a work of several hours, and the original a gift for a friend who'd lost his banty rooster and perhaps a hen so I drew this with colored pencils, Premier Prisma and Faber-Castell, I think and used a little baby oil for smoothing; hence probably removing some of the texture, definitely smoothing and blending easier. I since have always used "zest-it" mostly.

Thank you. Hope my comments were previously saved. I did use some baby oil in smoothing and blending this fairly long colored pencil painting. Since I use zest-it sometimes. I just looked at some of your work via your name. Lovely. The blue and off-white in one of the still life's look so real and I loved the painting of the flower in another. Real nice work.

A good looking rooster with all the colorful plumage. The smooth colors blend very nicely and give him a regal look.

The title fits what seems to be the attitude of this fellow.

A great entry for the contest and I wish you all the best in the judging.

What a wonderfully rooster. The colors are so vibrant and very well chosen. Excellent rendering and the eye is especially interesting and adorably quizzical. Good luck in the contest.

Nice image of the rooster here! I like his expression, seems unimpressed to be your subject. The use of colour is great for this contest. Adding some more shadows around and under the feathers would give this more depth, but otherwise, well done

Thanks. I might try the shadows sometimes. I believe I drew the rooster on colored pencil without anything else as a background, only a little under, around his feet. I'll have to look when I can or ask the guy I did for a gift.

haha Glena. This rooster just has a quirkiness and attitude that grabbed me at first instance! Glorious. Love the colours and the plain background so he really stands out. He's looking at me, unimpressed !! :)

Keep creating,
