An interesting entry into the contest showing the blessing of the injured soldier. I feel for the armed forces that have served in both Vietnam and Afghanistan so you could read many things into this artwork.

Well during nam we were scowled and spit upon in those days. Called baby killers..2 years after Vietnam I was in my dress uniform at the Memphis airport heading home. This hippy was screaming at me then walked over calling me a baby killer and spit at me . I remember saying you dumb woman the war has been for a couple years. Then after 9-11 all of sudden folks wanted to say thank you for service instead of spitting..really it does feel weird when they say thank you for your service. Lol. Thanks for the great review

Yes my brother in law was in the SAS in Vietnam and Australian people treated them badly on return.

You don't tell very much about your images, so sometimes I have to guess what I am looking at. If this is what I think it is, I think this is a strong and emotional scene. Since this is an entry into a faith contest, I think I am looking at a dying soldier getting the last blessing, and I especially like the way you have placed the two men in a spot light leaving the background black.

The drawing is done paying a really good attention to details, and with a limited color pallet. And of course excellent use of sharpies and bic pens.

Also the composition is working, and it has a fine balance. Really well done Mark, and I wish you luck with the contest. Wish I had a 6 left to give.

I wish I had a 6 star left as this is a very special creation again, the content is unusual and perfect as that is what is going on right now backstage or better said underground and many are falling over because of the huge deepness, without much oxygen - a great situation to save the fallen one
fantastic use of space, excellent detail conents with the round piece ad the light from above inside the total darkness - are you knowing also what is going on backstage? As this is the truth since the last 4 years and now it will end as we won.
Excellent presentation, all the best for the contest

Wonderful artwork in Sharpie and Bic Pens on card stock paper. Love the light shining on the good works and kindness of one soldier to another. Great theme. Some wonderful images in the video also.

Your cartoon is impressive. The drawing should make adults and children think about its message. Apparently the kneeling soldier defended his opponent with material art moves and disarmed him without using a weapon himself. We should learn to solve all our conflicts this way.
Your drawing is excellent thought out, composed, and framed. The colors are adequate. The composition ids balanced.

WOW! This hit me like a ton of bricks! You either have a fellow soldier or soldier priest giving the last rites for a soldier who has died....or saying a prayer for one that is wounded. The fact the soldier is holding on to the prostate soldier's wrist brought those feelings across immediately!!! The spotlight intensifies those feelings! You feel that a final "peace" is being given...or a special prayer is being said. The title so fits the image! It is the chaos of the front line that every soldier knows! No matter if your images are funny or serious you know how to capture emotion Mark!!!! Incredible job! :o) Nancy

Hi! I had not seen your work in awhile so it's nice running across this. You gave such a great ability to evoke emotion in your work and are talented at forms of all kinds.
With the limited tools you use, I am amazed every time.
Great job!

This is so sad. I love how you have "the light" shinning on both of our brave warriors. They are the ones who keep us free. When I hear about one that died I feel so sorry for him/her as well as the family.
