Wonderful capture of the skimmer; good selection for the bug contest. The big stick it is upon is nicely done. The background is well enough, just a little too much competition with the bug which is done greatly.

I like the way you put so much thought into your technique. The focus on your main subject is perfect. I don't know what a spotted skimmer is, but I don't need to know to appreciate the colors and beauty of this bug. I can't believe I called a bug beautiful. Excellent work.

"Beauty is where you find it." Madonna. Fortunately for me the creature decided to rest motionless for this brief moment. Out of the 60 or so exposures this one and 6 others were keepers. Hand held @ 1/800 sec does require a certain amount of cooperation from the subject, don't you think?
