These are adorable cartoon characters, the first I've seen of your doing strange critters cartoons. It is fine work as usual, with sharpie and bic pens on card stock paper. I especially like the bear. Cute fishermen.

Hey Troop,
Yes I too was inspired by the story Pat told of the man who was mauled by a bear. That reminds me of the wounded warriors and how they have overcome what happened to them. These are the true heroes and an inspiration to us all.

I know the photo which inspired you. I agree with the message of your cartoon, which emphasizes the message of the photo. I almost hear mother bear talking to the blind man. Apparently the man is teaching the bear how to handle the fishing rod. The expression of the talking bear is cute. Your cartoon is convincing. Your experienced marker strokes are impressive. The colors and the perspective are realistic. The cartoon is excellent composed. Man and bear are perfect placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.

Hi Mark, I completely understand how you were inspired by the incredible man in AlaskaPat's image. Your version is certainly more calming than the real story! I have the feeling that even the victim of the bear attack would enjoy this if someone told him about your image. He is definitely a man of courage and is incredibly caring about others who have had traumatic experiences in their life! Kudos for acknowledging her image! :o) Nancy

Personally I identify myself as an cartoonist than an artist for many reasons. I don't work with any art medium.. cartoonist don't have masterpieces like you artist do. An artist can jam colors together making an abstract and it can be considered as a masterpiece. Try that with a cartoon. Lol. See I do joke around saying cartoonist are the ghetto for the art world. We are needed for ads and advertisement as well as entertainment. Other than that unless a gallery is featuring cartoons we are not welcomed to display with you artist. An artist can create things to express their selves. All a cartoonist does is tell a story or stress a message. I am detailed like you are however, your awesome work will be regarded highly in the art world where I will have keep creating numerous amount of work just to be mentioned in the art world. See I pursue the commercial field ..logos cartoons, music videos and illustrations. This 1st place guy thinks I'm pursuing him to get the 1st place spot. The joke is on him. I took that spot 3 times and plus some so if he gets it this will be his 2nd. More power to him. I know you came late in the year but if you pursue next year with this awesome talent you will be for sure in the top 5. Wink. Thanks for the great review.

This is actually not far from the reality , on the river when fishing is good, the bears will fish right along with the men and women , of course you made this fun by giving the bear a pole ! I like the way you placed them side by side like two buddies fishing together. Love the blue water with the ripples to show the motion as it flows, love the bear and the fisherman and by the look of the curve in the poles I would say they both have a fish on!

i told ya..when i read that he became my hero. thru a horrible disaster in a persons life most folk would withdraw and die. this hero not only adapted his situation but live his life to the fullest including raising a family. he may not be able to see his kids but i assure you he sure feels their presence..wink. here is a suggestion.. let us promote this hero together..as you can tell i mentioned it in the artist notes to check out your post of him..do the same for me on this cartoon. he deserves to be praised for a prime example of the human spirit!! (THUMBS UP) thank you for this inspiration Pat and thank you for the great review.

this was inspired by fellow FAR member alaskapat "an amazing man". the story of this guy inspired me to do this cartoon. check out that post of alaskapat's and this cartoon will make sense..wink. thanks for the great review.
