WOW, you make me smile as you smile as well behind such huge special glasses I never saw in my life
Your presentation is excellent and fantastic with your story, where you created it - your background is artistic as well with the green and blue water combination -
Fantastic angel and position showing even your working points, your great sun created a brown body
a really outstanding presentation and all the best for the contest.

Thank you for a lovely review. Those glasses really are that big. I had them made special for when we used to sail, they are great for working in strong sunlight too.

This is such a beautiful self portrait and you depicted yourself beautifully and creatively. I know how hard it is to do a self portrait. I really struggled with mine too. Wonderful composition. Good luck in the contest

How cute you are all ready. To do some painting on the beach! I love your round
Sunglasses . It's a nice entry for this contest, I wish I was on this beach today as it's freezing cold here!
Well arranged and presented! Best wishes to you!

A good looking image posted here into the competition. Your fine and interesting composition has me wondering why the easel is in it? Colours, textures and tones are good. Nicely created!

Thank you. The easel? The clue is in the title.. I wanted to show I am an artist, me painting me, looking in an imaginary mirror the easel slightly in view. Distracts you from seeing my wrinkles... lol.

This is a unique choice for this contest. I like your modern approach with the bright colours. Your easel is well drawn and has nice proportions, but by comparison your figure seems flat. It seems you have not quite moved from one style to the other in some areas. Your use of lines and colours for your hair and the background are well done. The proportions of your figure are well drawn. Your expression is well captured and your earings work well. Overall a great first impression, all the best in the contest

Thank you. Your comme ts are very interesting and i want to get this right. Is it the lower figure that is flat? Or the face? There was shadow across the chest area from the canvas with the front arm catching light. But I felt it made thr hidy look odd, an unproportional arm . Your fir the comments would be helpful.

I think from your shoulders down looks flat, but only by comparing it to the detail and depth that is in the easel directly to the right. Your face with the colour combinations has depth, and the light colours you used in your sunglasses with your lashes behind have nice depth as well. I realize in your photo the shadow makes sense, but your face is lacking the same shadowing from the same direction, so the shadow on your chest was hard to recognize. I actually thought it was your clothing, being a similar colour to your tanned skin. That's what I mean by using the same traditional or modern technique all the way through.

However, for the purposes of this exercise in a more modern style, you could have changed the colour completely of the shadow or leave it out. I am not a modern artist, so I may be totally off, but my take on it is that it doesn't always have to make sense to work in a piece.
That's one of the best things about art, we can make and change things as we see fit. With a modern approach don't be afraid to think outside the box!!! A great start, I can't wait to see the next one:)

Thanks that's actually very helpful. I wasn't too happy with the chest area and actually added more dark before posting. I think you are right, I now think i went the wrong way, but that's art I can't lighten because it's pens. I often do smaller stuff lije this A3 as drafts and make something bigger when I am happy. This could start me experimenting

I love the abstract feeling in your self portrait! How we see ourselves is always a challenge to portray to others but you have done an excellent job! The blue and green background gives great highlight and the oversized glasses make this so fun to view! Well done and best of luck in the contest!
