This is such a great image of those beautiful orange butterfly perched what seems to look like a flower. The flower kind a looks abstract very beautiful. A beautiful butterfly that looks fantastic against your rhododendrons. The image is immaculately sharp and the colors are great, especially considering the mixed lighting.

Hi Bob, this has an artistic look, like it was painted, the eastern swallowtail butterfly is beautiful and shows more orange then our western swallowtails, I appreciate the informative notes that tell us this is a female because of that blue wash on tail . This is a good study of light and shadows as we see the area on upper right wing is in the brighter light.
The butterfly is well placed within the frame and I love her beautiful wings ! The flowers in the pink tones make a lovely canvas for the butterfly.
This is well focused, the image is clear, exposure is well controlled, colors and tones appear natural.
Well composed and presented!

Love this photograph. Clarity is fantastic. The butterfly really stands out. The only ting I would change is to crop out or some erase the yellow at the bottom, since it draws your eye away from the subject matter. Other wise fantastic photo.

This Rhododendron seems indeed explosive. The background looks like fireworks. The Butterfly is gorgeous. Your photo is excellent focused and exposed and has good depth. I enjoy the realism of color and light and the refinement of detail. The Swallowtail is perfect placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.

My butterflies do not go on the rhododendrons and I have all the colors.
The details on the butterfly are great so is the placement within the frame.

Well, so much for the rhododendron light experiment, but you got a really nice capture of the Swallowtail. Interesting on how to tell males from females. They certainly are beautiful creatures and this one showed her full glory.
