Well I have learned something new here, I'm wondering if this odd creation of the snow bales occurs here too, I mean, we definitely have plenty of snow and lots of wind in the winter to make it happen , I'm going to be looking for these from now on !
Well captured Bob to show the way the snow forms bales as it rolls along ,
Well focused , clear image with correct exposure to show the snow in its natural white tones.
Well composed and presented! Best wishes to you in this contest! If I happen to find these here, I'll let ya know!

I have heard that the Eskimo have many different words for snow, I wonder if they have one for these?

Thank you so much for a fine review and excellent rating ... Bob

That is indeed odd, and I don't think I have seen this phenomenon before. Even if I am from a country with a lot of snow in the winter. Even if this snow roller is small, you have pictured it so well, and I especially like the fine textures you have brought out in the snow, and also the nice shadows and high lights.

The photo is sharp with clear details and both the exposure and white balance is perfect.

The cropping has worked well, and I like how the snow roller has been placed a bit off to the left. I think this is an interesting and well taken photo, and I wish you luck with the contest.

What an interesting phenomenon and so nicely captured.
Wonderful details and shades of white/grey. The ball close to the center ball with donut like opening is well placed and get the attention of the viewer.
Good, educational description and explanation what we are observing.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you so much for telling the story behind the snowballs I have no idea that this was even something that it was possible until you mentioned it here. It's so interesting to know all these things in nature that we don't always know about. Beautiful photography my friend and thank you so much for sharing

Nice informative commentary. I learned about several of these lately, and throughout my being on FAR, subject matter I didn't know and that makes the work evern more interesting.

That's my first six star review in the newly ushered year. Frankly, I didn't know about this unique meteorological phenomenon and I am startled at the formation of these cylindrical "donuts" made of ice. And you explained it so simply and captured the whole thing in nature so beautifully. I am glad I am beginning my new year with something new to discover and learn, courted you. Thank you so much and my best wishes for the contest

Thanks so much for the detailed information as I had no idea previously about the snow roller, I like the snow donuts name as this one definitely looks donut shaped. A good entry into the contest.
