This is a beautiful image and perfect for this contest. A nice composition, showing nice depth that leads the viewer's eye through the woods. The variation of greens against the tree trunks creates nice contrast. You're right, there is something mysterious about this image. All the best in the contest! Well done!

I agree. I really like the small white puffs on the right center of the photo as I see it. They add to the mystery. The trees are tall and straight. I doubt that I would enter the forest. I have watched too many CSI shows and the like, but I can appreciate the beauty.

Wow your title is perfect as this is really a deep wood as there is not even light coming in from above and your picture shows that this is a very old section so they were grown into such a position that it is outstanding
your picture is well-chosen - well created from the perfect view-point, distance and angle as we can feel perfectly to stay there as well

i used to live in Joplin and travel all around the ozars on both Missouri and Arkansas sides and yeah i remember da woods..if you go to the mid south (miss/ala/Tn) they call it the sticks..if your down in southern Louisiana they call it the "zats"..i think i remember these hilly woods..lol. interesting capture. the clarity is good. the angle of the shot of the woods is good. the capture of the light is good. the presentation is balanced and eye interesting to the viewer. good eye and good job overall.

I only lived in Joplin for lil over year and then got transferred out. Nice area

It is a nice area. My husband has a cousin that lives there. Precious Moments Museum and Chapel are in Carthage, nearby. Carthage is a beautiful place..at one time had the most millionaires of any place in the US. Mines and Stone work.

This forest is thick with fairly straight timber trees. The green floor is lush. The young pine show their new growth. The green in the background fills in nicely. You have a very nice shot here. Good luck.
